In the countryside of Thailand, a gang of outlaws makes the region unsafe. Among them is the handsome gun hero Dum, who became unwillingly involved in the bandit life. Handsome Dum made a promise to his upper-crust lover Rumpoey: despite the class difference, they will get married. When the moment of reunion arrives, Dum gets involved in a fire fight and cannot possibly reach Rumpoey in time. She is desperate: her father has married her off to a policeman. The taciturn Dum, called the 'Black Tiger' by his co-conspirators, has however not forgotten Rumpoey. He does everything in his power to reach her, but fate gets in the way: his gang leader suspects him of treachery and his blood brother turns into his greatest enemy. Will the two lovers ever meet up? This urgent question propels the melodrama forward, supported by exciting music, spectacular shootouts and heroic duels. What made this movie to Cann, and winning the Canadian film festival is, it bold production design, Very Brave to be difference, It also does capture and show beautiful scene though, While I was seeing this movie I just fell like I was in a real stage theater. How bold could it be with the burn yellow and sweetest pink comprised with quite a strange but nice music in the background?<br/><br/>It would be nice if they have done a more homework for the script. (I still feel missing something in the story line.)<br/><br/>Unfortunately it was brought to compare with last year CT-HT, I would prefer this movie rather than CT-HT,<br/><br/>I'm not a movie snob but if you have seen the a hundred of HK martial art movie you will realize that that CT-HT is SOOOO DARN ORDINARY with the cliché-ending scene, Chorography that actually no better than a HK B grade martial art movie, how slow is the story line And if you compare in term of budget wise. With so little money Tear of the Black Tiger' have spend, does give us some good remark in the film industry.<br/><br/>For me Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, (Sleepy Tiger Boring Dragon) is a real BOO-HOO,<br/><br/>Tear of the Black Tiger is something that catching my eye.. This movie is really very different from anything else I have seen. It looks amazing, with bright colors everywhere, obviously painted backgrounds, good looking actors.<br/><br/>There are shedloads of Western cliches: the strong, silent hero, the cowboy buddy, the gunslingers' standoff, hands poised over guns. But these are so overdone that they're funny rather than tired.<br/><br/>The movie is quite violent. This is a negative feature in my opinion. I saw this movie with two others, both of whom tolerate violent films much more than I do, and all of us agreed that there was no need for the extremes of spurting blood.<br/><br/>The contrast between the very explicit violence and absolute lack of explicitness of sex couldn't be more striking. While we see people die in full color glory, with blood gushing everywhere, there is almost no physical affection shown.<br/><br/>Despite my dislike of violent movies, I would recommend this film for its great look and the tongue-in-cheek take on Western movies. A few more films like Tears of the Black Tiger, and kitsch will be on its way to having a bad name.
